Wilds of Organica – New Release for June 2017 at The Arcade!

Tiny Peryton Avatar – Okapi coat (RARE!)

A new set of Perytons is now available at The Arcade from June 1 thru 30th!

These 1m tall antelope/bird hybrids require a Bento-enabled viewer and come with HUD (AO & Eye control), mesh body, full body alpha, default shape and eyes. As with all of Wilds’ releases at The Arcade, these avatars are transfer-only, but they can be exchanged for non-transferrable mod/copy editions at the main store (just read the instructions in the included notecard).

Fantasy Faire 2017 Wrap-up

Thanks for helping to make this year’s Fantasy Faire such a success – Our combined efforts allowed Wilds of Organica to raise L$28950 for the American Cancer Society!

All new releases are now available in-store and moving forward we’ll be working on offering applier functionality and some new coats for the centaurs.

I’ve received excellent feedback for them so far, but if you have something specific you’d like to ask, I welcome the opportunity to correspond. Send me (Aki Shichiroji) an IM and I’ll try to address your questions!

Additionally, I don’t recall whether I pointed this out on the blog before, but there is now a Wilds of Organica group. All notices will also get sent here, but there is a group chat component for those who want to socialize or need some help with Wilds of Organica products.

Wilds of Organica at Fantasy Faire 2017!

If you’ve been following WoO, you might have been wondering what I’ve been up to. A preview of a new offering was put up on my Flickr feed a couple weeks ago, and now I’m happy to announce that two new freebie avatars are now available at Fantasy Faire from any of the region landing points as low ARC options for browsing this or any other event.

An added bonus is that other colours are also available from my shop at the Faire, located in The Spirit Pool region, as part of a gachapon vendor! Two rares are available and there are ten non-freebie coats available!

Additionally, the long awaited centaur avatar is also being introduced at Fantasy Faire! Four coats are available for general release, while two additional (purple and pink) are offered as donation items for the Relay for Life. The avatars are made for both male and female shapes (although some modification may be necessary for a natural fit) and require Bento & ALM functionality to be viewed. All animations are custom made and include some facial and hand animation support for those who wear Bento heads and hands. Additionally, while this release does not include applier functionality, additional coats will be offered soon, after the new applier system is implemented (watch Wilds of Organica subscriber notifications closely for this announcement!).

Be sure to drop by the [ WoO ] shop in The Spirit Pool from April 20-30 for Fantasy Faire to try a demo or check out all the other new things that are now available!

New Bento Wings from Wilds of Organica!

New this week at Wilds of Organica are these Bento-enabled webbed wings! They work great as bat, dragon or demon wings and come in eight different colours, sized for both smaller and larger avatars. Each set also comes with a basic wing AO HUD, which includes both normal overrides as well as specific standard poses.

Please note: Due to an existing bug with system animations not resuming properly, it is highly recommended that this product be used alongside your favourite human animation override, as unexpected results may otherwise occur.

These wings & HUD are mod, copy, with some copy-only scripts.

They’re available right now at Wilds of Organica!

Additional news of note:

A complete update of the vendor system being used by Wilds of Organica’s non-gacha items has been done. This allows all shoppers of *both* Organica and Wilds of Organica to spend and apply loyalty credit wherever they wish between the two shops. So if you have shop credit from Organica but want to pick up something at Wilds of Organica, you can do so by left-clicking the appropriate vendor to initiate this process.

With that said – please note that this does *not* apply to the Gacha machines, which will continue to operate separate as they have done in the past.

Remaining WoO gift-card holders should contact me directly to have their remaining credit applied to the new system prior to attempting gift card redemption.

Happy Shopping!

Wilds of Organica at Enchantment

Wilds of Organica is participating in the current round of the Enchantment event!

This round’s theme is Cinderella, and based upon Perrault’s version ( Cendrillon ), here is Wilds’ offering:

Tap in to your reptile brain and transform yourself in to a Lizard Footman!

This is a moddable mesh head and arms with footman costume. All parts are materials optimized and the head and fingers are Bento-animation ready. Costume can be detached with basic editing and the arms can be edited in sections to adjust visibility under other garments.

Mod, copy, no transfer, free updates.

New Yeti Avatars this December at The Arcade!

Greetings Readers!

It’s nearly December again, and that means we’re set for another round of The Arcade!

This time around, Wilds of Organica will be offering a Yeti avatar:

yeti-legend-1024

This av stands 1.8m tall and comes in 12 different coats! It’s a bipedal avatar that comes with eye control & animation override – It also comes with the option to exchange for *either* a Bento-enabled transferrable version *OR* a package containing both non-Bento and Bento-enabled mod/copy avatars! Pick up this avatar at The Arcade from Dec 1 thru 31st!

What is Bento?

Bento is an extension to the standard Second Life Avatar Skeleton that adds many new bones and attachment points that has been in the works over the past year; while it is not officially released, the project is in the Release Candidate stage and viewers for the project are available from the Second Life alternative viewers website.

The base avatar being offered straight out of the Arcade machine will be Non-Bento. If you wish to try out the new Bento functionality, please be advised that it will work if you are using a Bento viewer, however you may look odd/squished to those around you who aren’t using a Bento-enabled viewer yet! Also, it should be noted that all eye-blink/facial animation included with this avatar uses Bento, so if you’d like the full functionality, you will need to switch! Instructions for exchange to a Bento-enabled transferrable OR for the mod/copy pack are included with your package!

Moving forward, some of you have been asking about other projects I’ve covered over the past couple of months: of note, the wyvern & centaur avatars. These are still being worked on and hopefully there won’t be too many changes in the workflow, however I should note that the tools used for this development are still somewhat in flux and since these rigs both push on the limits of what Bento can do, it’s important to hold back and do things right rather than to rush in to final release for them, because the rigs for both have had to be redone a couple times now. Many other Bento-related things are on the way over the next couple of months, so keep your eyes on this blog and my Youtube channel for further details.

Made in collaboration with NeoBokrug Elytis of Desolate Studios, each racer comes with an optional bobble-head and use of the WoO racing system (full info here: http://www.akimeta.com/organica/?page_id=2043 ) Each car is 11LI and materials optimized. They are Transfer-only with option to exchange and will rez with one permanent trait, which effects driving in a unique way. Play the gacha machine or trade with friends to get a vehicle with the stats you want – there are six traits to collect!

Traits Acceleration Agility Speed
Scurry 4 3 2
Dart 4 2 3
Scamper 3 4 2
Hotfoot 2 4 3
Marathon 3 2 4
Hasty 2 3 4

Please note: Due to the nature of transfer-only items as well as the volatile nature of vehicles & region crossings, we highly recommend locking in your vehicle for a copy-only version once you are happy with what you’ve got. Your transfer-only vehicle may be exchanged for a copy-only vehicle at the main store. There is a special, separate exchanger for vehicles. Please check the note-card included with your purchase for the location, up to date as of Ocotober 16, 2016.

Organica can be found at Candy Faire at booth 29 – located here at: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Destiny%20Dreams/31/108/47 from October 17 thru 31st!

Additionally, Wilds now has a Facebook Page! The new page is here at https://www.facebook.com/WildsOfOrganica/

I know I recently posted a couple videos over here and for major stuff I’ll probably still post to the blog and link from Facebook and the subscriber kiosk, but sometimes I have work in progress shots that don’t warrant full blog posts or in-world notices, so with the Facebook Page, I’ll be able to post those plus update those of you who don’t get the chance to log in all that often to see new notices.

New project progress & some Project Bento thoughts

Have you heard about Project Bento yet? It’s an extension of the Second Life avatar, adding two new sets of limbs, a tail, face and hand bones, and more! It will bring a host of new possibilities to content creation in Second Life and is slated to arrive on AGNI (the main SL grid) by the end of Quarter 2.

I’ve got a new video up discussing new things I’m working on, as well as progress on Project Bento, which is just around the corner!

I was also part of the Drax Files Radio Hour podcast recently with Draxtor Despres, Medhue Simoni and Mahadma Resident to talk about Bento – you can catch that here: https://draxfiles.com/2016/02/12/show-103-project-bento/

By the way, as I mentiond in the video, I recently wrote a new JIRA issue which focuses upon maximum file size for animations. The current cap is 120kB & 60 seconds; while I feel 60 seconds is quite generous, unfortunately the addition of so many new bones to the avatar and the implicit necessity for many animations to include *both* rotation and location data is likely to inflate the size of many Bento-related animations significantly. When I was putting together some simple standing animations for the wyvern, I found even a 300 frame animation – that utilized a couple of spine bones, the hind limbs, wings and tail – put me over the limit. While I was later able to scale the animation down in frames over time, not all animations would be as simple as a short looping stand animation, so I am somewhat concerned as to what this means for content creators who wish to utilize Bento bones to this degree.

The JIRA issue is BUG-11836 and could use a bit more feedback.

What are you looking forward to, with the Bento project on the horizon? Do you have any thoughts/questions/concerns? Leave them in the comments here; I’d love to hear what you think!
