Akimeta provides a wide variety of services including terraforming, landscaping, full sim development and layout, 3D animal and vegetation creation, avatar based content, video production and more. Below are a few examples of recent work.

Ozimals Bunnies

Candy Cerveaux of the Magic of Oz sims recently commissioned a large collection of sculpted bunnies from Akimeta for an upcoming and much anticipated release of bunnies under the Ozimals brand. Akimeta provided detailed sculpts and textures for over 36 varieties of bunnies as well as various additional accessories.

In late 2008/early 2009, Akimeta worked with Aimee Weber Studio and the MacArthur Foundation to create an informative and education exhibit which discusses the MacArthur Foundation itself, as well as how it provides grants to various groups locally, countrywide, and worldwide, to make the world a better place. Akimeta collaborated to design and provide extensive terraforming, landscaping, building and texturing services. A wonderfully successful 'Sneak Peek' event was held on November 17, 2008, during which the sim was host to the "Real World Impacts from the Virtual World" discussion, as well as a detailed tour by MacArthur Program Officer, Craig Wacker. More photos of the project are available here.

Boats for NOAA Alaska NOAA Alaska

In 2008, Akimeta was again contracted via AWS to provide assets for NOAA's new Alaskan project, Thetis. Built around the area of Dutch Harbor at Unalaska, Alaska, the idea was to highlight the crab fishing industry in Alaska and its associated difficulties. Akimeta provided construction and texturing of two vessels - a crab vessel that has become the central activity area for the region, as well as a recreational fishing vessel, moored in the area. Some landscaping and animal creation services were also provided. More photos of the project are available here.

At the end of July 2008, Organica, a Secondlife business run by Akimeta, acquired an Openspace sim from which the intention was to launch its new main location. A series of landscapes were designed and upon settling on one design, Akimeta set about making a believable and evocative environment where visitors could not only shop, but explore and relax. The area prominantly features mountains and water areas open for recreation, and is constantly changing. More photos of the project are available here.

HMVS Cerberus US Navy's Virtual Naval Undersea Warfare Center

Via Aimee Weber Studio, Akimeta provided various build support services, including the construction of a quonset structure, lecture theatre, cafe, reconstruction of the sunken HMVS Cerberus, texturing of a Virginia-class submarine, as well as various sim enhancements throughout vNUWC's 8 sim estate. Teaching services were also provided to the client in September of 2008 for the creation of assets in Blender, an open-source 3D modelling program. More photos of the project are available here.

NOAA project - Blue HeronNOAA National Ocean Service

In June of 2007, work began on the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration's sim 'Okeanos'. In collaboration with colleagues at Aimee Weber Studio, a series of activities demonstrating some of the National Ocean Service's responsibilities were put together. Akimeta's role in the project involved the creation of various buildings and other infrastructure, terraforming, landscaping, the creation of dozens of plants and animals, along with supplimentary texture and implimentation of scripted solutions from other contractors on the project.
